Birth/younger years:
Born within the Denali family was a child named
Danya Atarah Denali. The child was born full of life and a spirit that knew no
bounds. To say she would not allow herself to fit into a box is an understatement.
Unlike other families, the Denali family had a secret that one would ever so
want to behold. They were not what one would ever call a normal family. Being
creatures of the night, they had a certain way of handling things. They were
not blood suckers, but animals, so to speak. Wolves often had packs and the
children produced by the alpha pair can be a few to several. From a young age
Danya knew that she would never fit in with the “mortal” servants. Knowing this
she would allow those servants that were close to her to be themselves and ask
whatever they wished.
She was the youngest out of her siblings
which meant her view of the world was slightly different. Her heart was way too
big for her own good and the world would always be a harsh punisher for those
with big hearts. The Denali family took a hit with the loss of the matriarch
and patriarch of the family. Danya adored her parents and losing them was a harsh
blow to her. She had her siblings, particularly Selene. Selene in more ways
than one took on that role of being the parent for Danya.
Selene had Danya’s respect because not only
did she have her own children, but she took care of Danya. The young child was
given private tutors to learn not only a basic/advanced education, but a few to
learn how to be a wolf. She had to learn the inner workings of the magical
world and how to interact with the politics of the mortal world. Little did she
know that her little life would be turned upside down at sleep over that would
be turn ablaze. Some of Selene's kids were the same age as Danya at the time of
a great sleepover. Danya enjoyed being with her family and the sleepovers of
the Denali family were known to be legendary. Danya felt there was no need in
the world to worry, for she knew that she was protected like all there. She had
her family, and that time was all that she needed in the world.
The night was long but filled with joy, fun,
and togetherness. However, all things must come to an end and as Danya was
getting settled in her sleeping bag something fell off. The dark-haired and
blue-eyed beauty looked around and noticed something or someone. Amayah Lestat
seemed to look uncomfortable. She couldn’t put her finger on it but decided to
shake it off as she laid her head down upon her fluffed up pillow. She pulled the eye mask over her eyes to keep
everything dark so she could sleep. It felt like she was slowly falling asleep
when something burning came into her noise. At first, she thought it was
something within her own mind that was playing tricks on her.
The Fire:
The smell became too much, and the sound of
screams filled her ears. Danya knew that she was not dreaming at all, and she
needed to move. She could hear her name being called in the distance by some
ladies in waiting and other servants. “Lady Danya move!” they screamed with one
running over to her and ripping the eye mask off her face. A gasp escaped her
lips as she looked around and saw everyone running around. “Where are the
children?” she asked standing up still inside her sleeping bag. “No time for that
run!” The lady in waiting said grabbing her arm. Danya did not want to budge,
wanting to find the others, especially the littles.
Danya felt as if her body was moving on its
own as she was following several of the ladies in waiting that was around her
age. “This way.” They said slipping through the halls like shadows. Danya had
no choice but to allow the sleeping bag to fall as she needed to run as fast as
she could. She looked around as she followed the ladies in waiting. Through her
eyes, Danya could see that so many were running around. Flames were surrounding
everything destroying everything they touched. How did she sense this, or smell
this, or connect anything until being woken up. “Quickly.” She heard one of the
ladies in waiting tell her.
Danya knew not what to do but to follow. She
wanted to find her family and help; however, she knew nothing of how she could
help. She became as if she was in flight mode instead of fight mode. Danya
wanted to scream as tears ran down her face, seeing everything being destroyed
and everyone running in fear. “Who did this?” she asked one lady in waiting
grabbing her arm as another pulled up a secret entry way that was used by the
staff and some of the family to get through the large estate without being seen.
There were some secret passageways that only the family knew just in case of
emergencies. “We do not know but we need to leave. Everything is chaos.” The
lady said, pulling her into the passageway.
Danya nodded not saying a word, only to look
back for a second to make sure that everyone could get out. Which they could,
however, just before she was going to go in fully something caught her eye.
“What is Amayah Lestat doing?” she asked herself as she saw Amayah looking at a
window that had yet to be engulfed in flames which probably meant she was using
abilities to keep the flames back. This thought came to her since flames were
around that area. “We do not know but we need to leave. She will leave in
time.” They said as if they knew something. Danya sighed yet nodded finally
walking through the passageway. The young women walked through the twisting and
turning passageway smelling the smoke that was quickly bringing down the
estate. “Where does this one lead?” she asked with a thick European accent.
“The garden it should be far enough away and
if needed we can go deeper into it.” One said opening another door that lead to
another part of another passageway. The estate seemed so large while going
through them until the smell of dirt filled her nose. She knew that they were
close to the garden, which was a good thing considering that a strong heating
feeling began to come up to her back. She turned her head for a moment to look
and see flames coming behind them. “RUN! The flames made it into this passageway.
Run” They all began to pick up speed until making it to the door that lead out
to the garden. The head lady in waiting quickly opened the door and everyone
ran out closing it quickly behind them. “Hopefully the lack of oxygen within
there will stop them.” One with light blonde hair stated.
The smell of fresh air filled her lungs
finally and she looked up towards the estate almost fully engulfed in flames.
“Why would anyone do this?” she asked feeling tears build ever more in her
eyes. The noise of a train rang through her ears, and she turned towards the
sound. “What is that?” she asked running towards the noise but after seeing
someone putting some of the children on a train, Danya ducked behind a large
bush. “Who is that?” She asked once more wanting to know what was going on, but
suddenly pain filled her head as someone from behind her slammed something
large upon her head. “Sorry miss. We can’t have anything happen to you.” A
voice filled her mind as everything around her became black with only the noise
of nature, the train, and the breaking of glass/crumbling bricks.
