It had been so long since Catherine was with her
family. All she knew was she was not related to any of the people who forced
her to call them family. The woman who forced her to call her
"mother" was cruel, and the man who forced her to call him
"father" was the type of man one would want their children around.
She could tell they were not her family since she could walk. Something about
them felt different, at least about the parents. Their children were nice to
her and seemed to be in the same boat, which was not of their blood. Though
Catherine could not put her finger on it for the longest time. That was until
she found records within the family study.
The records were of the three children within the
household and their birthplaces. When Catherine got to her name, she saw
Novikov of Russia. The burned into her mind like a hot iron, yet she did not
know where she had known it from. Taking a piece of paper, the quill, dipping
it in ink, and writing the name down so Catherine could look it up later,
Catherine knew there was a need to be in a hurry. She then wrote down the other
children's last names downs and the locations of their families so that they
could find out more about them in secret.
Catherine folded the paper and put it in her
pocket, then put everything back to normal before rushing out of the room
before anyone found out what she was up to. Catherine went to the room that she
shared with the rest of the two siblings. Her being the eldest and them being
in their teens, Catherine felt like it was her duty to take care of them, even
if that meant taking on most of the abuse. Catherine looked at them as they lay
on their bed reading their books and coughed to get their attention. "Hey,
I need to show you something," she said, looking at them with a rugged
look.
Kehlani looked up with a big smile until she saw
Catherine's look. Kehlani was the youngest out of the three and the kindest.
Kehlani had big blue fairylike eyes with flaming red hair that flowed down her
back. If anyone could get hurt by simple words or actions and would be her. The
Second of the three and the second eldest was Josiah. Josiah was a young man
with short dark hair, tan skin, and unique blue eyes. They were not your
standard blue, for they were much bluer and more profound than the average blue
that could draw one into them. "What is it?" Josiah said with a deep
voice that could rattle the room.
"I think I found where our families are from,
at least the names and the locations of our births. We always thought that we
were all taken, and I found the proof. All we have to do is find some more
information and get out of
here."Catherine said boldly. The other two's eyes widened, and they both
sat up. "Show us," Kehlani said in a sweet tone. Catherine sat down
on the bed next to Kehlani and patted the bed next to her so Josiah could sit
next to them. "It is a mystery why we were taken, yet I feel it is a dark
one and even one against our families. A hated one," she said, looking at
each of them. She showed them their names that had been written down in red
ink.
