Some background
One would think that being the daughter of
Dracula would make one have a happy life. But that is far from the truth when
the other half of the family loathes you because you are half creature of the
night. This was something that Giulia had to face everyday of her life and
learn how to grow into a woman. The difference between her and those who were
turned is that she could grow up and not just stay the same age. Her temper and
thirst were also able to be under her control. Many would call her a princess
of the vampire and fae realms, but others such as Morgana Lefay would call her
a bastard. She was used to this term being associated with her by her own
grandmother, but one can only take so much.
Giulia thought everything would remain the
same until her father came back from fighting the Ottoman Turks. The war had
not finished, yet he was still home safe. That was something Giulia needed to
see, but something felt off. He seemed uneasy and weak even which was not like
him. “Giulia come” he said to her in a calm fatherly tone of voice. Though
Giulia was not in the throne room where he was located, she could still him
through their family bond. She did as she was told, appearing before him, and
bowing. “My daughter, I need your help to win this war against the Turks. It is
not something my undead blood can finish on its own. But through the fae blood
that flows through your veins it shall give me greater powers” Dracula spoke
coming closer to her.
Giulia wanted to help her father but did not
know what he was going to do. Fae blood was often craved by vampires to be used
to gain powers or cleanse their souls. Many enjoyed fae blood for the simple
fact it had a different taste. This even went to those born of both vampire and
fae. It was a curse and blessing to have both lines flowing through one’s
veins. Giulia should have known this, but the young woman trusted her father.
“This will hurt, but I must do it.” He said grabbing her hair and digging his
fangs into her neck. “Father stop. It hurts.” She said feeling her blood flow
from the puncture wounds and into his mouth.
Through his mind as she struggled under his grip Dracula only said
through his mind and into hers, “You shall be still fae but also fully vampire.
I’m sorry my child you shall be something no one will ever want alive, but I
must do this.” His grip became tighter and tighter as he drained her body of
her blood. One can never fully take another’s species from them, but what she
would be was only told of in stories.
Giulia began to feel weak and felt her body
become limp in his grip. Dracula who had drained many knew what to do next, yet
he had to act fast before his own daughter died. Dracula took his free left
hand and dug his fangs into it. With a smooth motion, Dracula put his palm over
Giulia’s mouth allowing his blood to drip into it. When enough had dripped in
her mouth, Giulia’s eyes opened, and she grabbed her father’s wrist to feed for
the first time as a full vampire. She felt her inside burn and pushed him away.
“What did you do?” she screamed!
Present day:
Safe zone under Tenebris Protection, but with a price
It had been centuries since the Broken Doll
last laid eyes upon her father or her grandmother. She knew both were still alive,
but both knew the laws of certain lands. The lands under the protection of the
three founding families of the Ut in Veteribus would be a foolish travel to go
into just to go get her. The lands being Rome and Turkey for the Tenebris
family, the oldest of the families. The Novikov had the Russian lands, and
finally Anhalt of Germany. Lefay was power driven like Dracula, but both knew
that would find some unpleasant punishment placed upon them if they traveled
into the lands under the protection of the founding families.
That being said, Giulia knew that being
under the protection of three families that stuck or clung to the old ways of
not mixing the blood of the species would never come without a price. Giulia,
herself was a halfbred woman with both Fae and vampire blood mixing through out
her veins perfectly. She was both sweet tasting and yet blood thirsty. Though
they protected her from just two beings, Giulia knew she could be used at
anytime for the good of their families. Such a time came quicker than she could
ever have thought.
A summons from Antigone Tenebris {Aurelius
Antoninus} to come to the private throne room where the coven leaders typically
had their meetings. This summons was not something that Giulia could ignore even
if she wanted to, though it was not said within the summons that anyone would
happen to her if she had not acknowledged nor went to the throne room. The
Shattered Doll was no fool to say the least and so she went as quickly as she
could. Once she got to the large and old estate, she was led to the throne room
under heavy guard.
Giulia knew this was only protocol due to
the fact of what she was, furthermore, she knew that Antigone did not fully
trust her because of what flowed through her blood. “Wait here” the breaded
guard said looking at Giulia with an untrustworthy look upon his face. Giulia
simply bowed her head not knowing why she was summoned. Did she do anything wrong?
Or would she be thrown out of their protection? Giulia stood there and waited
until she heard, “Sultana, Antigone yol açın” (Sultana, Antigone, make way). Giulia
bowed her head and kept her eyes low showing respect understanding Turkish due
to having to learn it, Russian, and German as well.
“Yükselebilirsin” (You may rise), Antigone
stated waving her right hand in her direction. Giulia rose but kept her eyes
low, “Seni çağırdım çünkü bir şeye çok uygun olduğunu biliyorum.” ( I
have summoned you, for I know you are a perfect fit for something.) Giulia looked up at her only once, “Böyle
düşünüldüğüm için onur duyuyorum. Gerçi ben bir melezden başka bir şey değilim.”
(I am honored to be thought of such. Though I am nothing more than a
half-breed.) Giulia replied to Antigone.
Antigone gave a simple smile then turned to
the eunuch, Sümbül Ağa, “Lütfen git kızım Isis'i al” (Please go
get, my daughter Isis.) Sümbül Ağa, bowed his head and walked out of the throne
to go get the Princess Isis. Turning her attention back to Giulia, who was
still having her eyes lowered.
(My
daughter needs a guard particularly when she uses her ability, and her body is
not under her control. Isis can tell you more, but I do believe you are the
best for it. Providing she is alright with it.) Giulia looked up for a moment
and nodded her head respectfully understanding that it was up to Sultana Isis. Giulia
feeling Antigone’s crimson red eyes burn into her, lowered them once more.

Disclaimer: Done in two different points of views in order for the flow of the storyline.
Giulia’s POV:
Giulia could feel the eyes of the Sultana upon her. If one did not know any better the crimson eyes that Sultana Antigone possessed mimicked the ones that a vampire had. However, it was known that the Tenebris {Aurelius Antoninus} family had connections to two gods within the old lands. Furthermore, they were not what many thought were “normal” witches and warlocks. She wanted to know more about whom she would have to guard, but did not ask any further questions sensing another Tenebris was coming. The Tenebris family had a certain smell and presence that many did not hold. The only other time that Giulia would ever sense such a presence even close was those within the other founding families (The Novikov and Anhalt), and the Empresses of the Imperial Dynasties.
However, the very presence that the Tenebris family had was something vastly different. Many may think that vampires and witches/warlocks have the same spiritual presence, but that is not exactly true. There was something unique to each species and especially so when a person within the species grows older. Meaning, an older witch/warlock or an older vampire would have a stronger spiritual presence and smell to them. Standing before one of the Tenebris sisters and surrounded by her guards, Giulia felt smaller like when she stood in front of her father. Compared to a pure-blood, Giulia was nothing more than a half-breed. The only reason she was being able to stand within the Tenebris lands was that she would become their guard or whatever they had need of. Furthermore, the fairy blood that flowed through veins helps with that fact even further. She was not safe even with her mother’s side of the family. Her mother was loving from what she remembered but after her death, her grandmother took over guardianship. Like her father, her grandmother used her for abilities but for the vampire side. So, her father and grandmother was both two people she would never want to come in contract with.
The Tenebris family had no reason to fear her father unlike she feared him. She knew that he would if ever was able to get his hands upon her once more use her to gain even more power. She saw a young woman come in that held the same presence as the Dark Ancestral Witch, herself. The young woman though slightly tanner skin looked much liked Antigone and even more so Giulia could tell that they were related. Upon hearing that young woman called Antigone “Momma”, Giulia’s eyes went towards Antigone for a moment then back down towards the ground. There had been many rumors that only one child of Antigone’s was still alive and that she was furiously protective over her. Never in a million centuries would Giulia ever think that she would come face to face with the very child.
Antigone’s POV:
Antigone with a big proud smile upon her face looked at her daughter. She walked towards her and gave her a tight hug. “Benim küçük ayım. Bu sabah nasılsın?” (My little bear. How are you this morning?) Knowing that they were among those who did not traditionally speak Turkish or Latin, Antigone switched to a common language. “My Baby Bear. This here is Giulia Lefay-Tepes. She is the daughter of Vlad Dracula and the granddaughter of Morgan LeFay.” she said bluntly. “Vampire and fae hybrid. I know you have had some powers come in.” she said plainly.
Antigone took a pause then turned her focus towards Giulia. “I believe I have a solution for the two of you.” She said with a thick Roman (Ancient Italian) accent. She looked towards her daughter then back at Giulia. “Giulia is very skilled and will be able to protect you when your abilities come about when you are more vulnerable. Furthermore, Giulia it will give you a reason to be her even more so than hiding from your father or your grandmother.” She said plainly. “How do you feel about this baby bear?” she asked her daughter. Taking a deep breath, Antigone turned to Giulia. “There is no real choice for you here. I am sorry about that, but it is either us or the Imperial Dynasties to be thrown to.” She said speaking of the vampire dynasties of Asia (mainly in China and Korea), that were known to be ruled by warrior Empresses. “If you go there than there is no telling what could happen to you.” She said knowing that the only reason that the two covens (Imperial Dynasties and Ut in Veteribus) have a contract was that both sides knew that it would be utter destruction of both due to the power level of both sides.
Giulia’s pov:
Giulia standing there in the presence of both made her feel even smaller than before. She knew that she was between a rock and a hard place. She would have no choice but to guard the young Tenebris. She looked up at Antigone for a moment then towards Isis. She gave a slight smile and bowed her head. Upon hearing the name Imperial Dynasties, Giulia gave a slight nod and bowed her head once more. “I would be most honored to be a guard to you, Sultana Isis.”
Antigone’s pov:
Antigone gave a slight smile. “What are your thoughts my child?” she asked looking towards Isis. Antigone felt for Giulia knowing that neither her father’s side nor mother’s side had anyone who wanted her other than their own gain and neither wanted to protect her. This was one way where she would be protected and perhaps gain a new family even if it was not like the old ways. However, giving her to the Imperial Dynasties was something Antigone wished not to do, though it had been centuries since she last laid eyes upon the two Empresses. It was enough they still had treaty with them.
Standing on the balcony of her room, she looked out over the kingdom and sighed softly. She always loved this view, the smell of the flower gardens below drifted to her and she inhaled slowly taking the different scents in. She watched the guards go about their business, her thoughts turned to her training, there was still alot that she had to learn but the one thing that she never expected and she knew for a fact that her mother wasn’t expecting, was that she could heal people, it’s wasn’t that she could heal them but how…she couldn’t really think about that right now because if she could be honest, it made her nervous. She knew that she couldn’t talk about that to anyone but her mother and the other families.
A noise from inside the room distracted her and she turned and walked back in, smiling as she noticed the maids straightening her room. She knew each one by their given names, one thing about Isis, she always treated everyone like they were important no matter what job they had. Each person in the kingdom was important in some way or another. As they went about their duties, she prepared herself to get ready for the day. She couldn’t help the feeling that something was coming and she didn’t know if it was good or bad but she had this feeling since she had opened her eyes. She would seek out her mother and talk to her about it today.
An hour later, she left her room with her attendants in tow, making her way through the corridors of the palace, she smiled at the sound of the children playing and followed the noise, stopping in a doorway, she watched the children sitting and listening to their teacher tell a story and couldn’t help but smile. It brought back memories of her doing that something at that age. She nodded her head and that teacher and moved on.
She was walking into the central courtyard when she noticed her mother’s guard walking her way and knew immediately that she was going to be summoned to her mother’s side and everyone knew that you didn’t leave the Sultana waiting even if she was your own mother. The guard stopped a few paces from her and before he could even say anything, she nodded her head to let him know that she already knew. She wasn’t sure why her mother wanted her but she would find out, she thought to herself as she followed Sumbul Aga.
Reaching the throne room doors, she motioned for her attendants to wait out in the corridor as the doors opened and she made her way inside. Her eyes moving to her mother first, she came forward and curtsied in front her. Any other time, she wouldn’t do that if it was just her and her momma but she did notice the other person in the room. She knew her mother would probably tease her later for it but she respected her momma’s position and title and she would never disrespect her in any way. Slowly rising to her full height, she smiled. “ You wished to see me.” Her eyes moved to the other person in the room, taking her in before looking back at her momma. “ Good morning momma.”
She knew immediately what the girl was but she kept her mouth shut, her eyes never leaving her momma as she waited for her to speak. Isis, being what she was, she could tell if people were like her and her momma or something else and this girl that stood in the throne room was definitely something else, which confused her even more because she wasn’t sure why she was here and why her mother had summoned her.
