Ayumi was scrolling through her computer, she loved reading stories of love and fantasy.  While browsing she came across a true crime story.  Not her normal type of thing to read, she saw the title then got intrigued by the article.  "Romanian Man Slaughters Wife Then Commits Suicide. Three Children Are Reported As Missing."  How tragic, she thought to herself as she started to read the story.

Apparently, the man had thought his spouse was cheating on him with a male co-worker.  He had dwelled and obsessed about it for months, the article said.  His name was Daniel Pendragon.  He was so overcome with depression and anger; Pendragon shot his wife Molly in the back of the head while his children were outside in the back yard playing.  He took all three kids, His eldest son Derik age 7, His two Daughters Maika age 4 and Lily age eighteen months, loaded them in the car then proceeded to drive through an incoming severe winter's storm.

The story went on to say, he was driving irratic, his car was last saw veering towards a guard rail.  The vehicle went over the mountainside to the bottom.  Local Sheriff's Deputy Ruben Staddord said, "It will be spring until the vehicle could be located.  What a tragedy, It's a sad day in the Black Kingdom."  Ayumi gasped.  She couldn't fathom losing her kids like that.  "How sad" she said, she went into the kitchen, then put the kettle on, to make a cup of tea.  She looked outside of the window to see the blizzard still was dumping ice and snow by the inches.  Clutching her sweater, she watched as she waited for the whistle to blow.

Ayumi sat down in her recliner with her freshly brewed cup of tea.  Her fireplace had a nice slowly kindling fire going inside of it.  She grabbed her blanket then turned the television on.  The news was on.  She watched with interest as they were broadcasting about what she had just read about.  The accident happened not too far from her mountain cabin.  She was fussing about the children in the accident.  She hoped they were all okay but to be trapped out in weather like this, was just awful.

After about ten minutes of pacing around the living room She couldn't stand it anymore.  "Those poor babies, I must go see if I can find them.  She bundled up in her warmest winter coat, scarf, mittens and boots.  Leaving the comfort and warmth of her cabin she began walking through the deep snow.  There was an abandoned small cabin up the trail.  She wondered if they were possibly there.

The cabin belonged to an estranged local woman named Edith Brennan who had lost her children in a horrible car crash.  She was so grief stricken; she became psychotic the towns people had her committed. Edith became a resident of The Claybury Institute, a mental hospital north of the kingdom in a town called Silent Hill.  Edith lived the remainder of her days at the institute, until she was found in her room deceased.  Edith had hung herself with a bed sheet.  It was folklore that her spirit still resided in the cabin.  People could hear the sounds of a woman wailing her children's names in the dark, every night.

Ayumi was heartbroken more than words could say hearing about those poor children so young. Now imagine what type of father they had that shot their mother in cold blood. After time spent at her home knowing what her heart was telling what to do. After hearing the broadcast. "Those dear souls are out there somewhere I know it." It was a cold day out and she is determined to find those dear children.

She was walking the trail she knew of watching for any kind of car tracks or footprints. Remembering hearing the lore of Edith from the townspeople, she wasn't afraid of any such tales that she heard. If they were true, her heart was stronger than letting folktales run her off. That is how she saw the stories she heard, not believing them. She wrapped her scarf around her head as she felt the cold air.

Finally, she saw some tracks around an old, abandoned cabin that looked as if it’s been here for years. Looking at the footprints they were smaller than most adult tracks. Walking around the cabin hoping to get a peak of the inside. Wanted to be prepared for what was in there and for how long. She tried looking in the one window wiping bit of frost that was collected on it. trying to catch a peek at anything inside it was so dark I was not able to see a thing.

Going to the door of the cabin slowly opening hearing a small squeak from it the smell of death was overpowering. She slammed the door shut for a moment to then open the door once more leaving it open for a few minutes, letting the fresh air in. She peaked in slow "Hello. Is anyone here. Can you hear me? There was no answer. Having a deep sensation someone was indeed there slowly moving inside. It was the most hideous crime scene she has ever seen. Running outside she felt sick to her stomach. Her tears flowed down her face thinking what kind of evil person was allowed to roam the face of the earth at all.  Not knowing what happened to their father, she hoped he rotted in hell. Even that place would be too good to hold a murderous monster like their father.

She went back in after hearing a small sound walking back in the cabin she looked around. There was a strong smell the rats running around. Now going towards the kitchen, she gasped holding her hand to her mouth. Seeing this poor devastated child who hadn't had a good meal or a bath in weeks. Her hair was completely messed with her clothes dirt that was on her for so long. Tears were still flowing from her face, "my dear sweet child." she walked toward her, and the girl gave almost a small growl, moving her hand towards Ayumi. "Please I am here to help you honestly I brought some treats.

Taking out some candy she had in her frig she set them on the table waiting to see if the girl would trust her. Sitting at the table starting some conversation. "Are you Maika Pendragon? I read about how I wanted to come find take you back to my home. Would you like that." the girl snatched up the chocolate like it was the best meal in the world. after spending the day with her. Little Maika came and sat on her lap and cried so many tears.

It was starting to get dark out then Ayumi picked up their young girl and they both had a good cry taking a couple of the lateness with them. "Maika lets go back to my home and now your home I will take care of you." She held the girl still as she walks out with starting to walk back, hearing Maika say in her small voice. While pointing towards the cabin "Burn it…please burn it down."  Ayumi took one of the lanterns and lit it and threw it inside the cabin moving them back to safety she held Maika. They both watched the cabin burn to ground that was poetic justice.” She held Maika in her arms and took her back home with her a place of love and safety.
